At the Arboretum | Boston Baby and Family Photography

May 22, 2009

Kids grow up so quickly! You might remember little A from this photoshoot or his absolute fab birthday party. We’re slated for a couple more sessions this year. Today’s post is from a Mother’s Day photoshoot at Arnold Arboretum. The weather was gorgeous that day, which meant that the park was also really crowded!

Many flowers were still in full bloom. I love pinks and greens!

I love it when kids open up

Since I last saw A, he also learned how to walk!

…well, almost…

Some family portraits

Little A is a brave one… remember how he petted a horse? Well, this was a HUGE Great Dane

I’m so glad it’s Memorial Day weekend! I had a string of late (post 9PM) nights at work, I got sicker and sicker as the week progressed (I have the non-swine flu, I had some food poisoning), so I hope to get completely better this weekend and finish editing! This month I also walked the 20-mile Walk for Hunger and raised over $500 (thank you supporters!!!). Andrew and I are headed to Brown this weekend to participate in some commencement weekend activities. And oh yeah, I have to pack! I bought a condo in Brookline, closing is this coming week, and I hope to move next weekend (in the middle of 4 senior photoshoots). Crazy month for me in general, I’m surviving… but I’m not going to lie, I’m stretching myself, so that’s why I can’t take on any more gigs between now and August 15.

Oh, my friend Dave totally got me hooked on this arrangement by Jon Schmidt of Taylor Swift’s Love Story and Coldplay’s Viva la Vida (youtube vid here). Now, I’m not a big fan of Swift’s song, I think the lyrics are unrealistic and from a counterpoint view, I don’t like too many neighbor notes strung together, I prefer having wider intervals or appegiated chords in the melody line, but I loooove Coldplay, and I was introduced to Schmidt back in 2006 and have really liked his stuff too. It’s great study/work music =)

Wen’s Second Pregnancy | Boston Maternity Photography

May 9, 2009

Wen and Phil were two of my high school youth counselors back in the day, and probably one of my biggest supporters since I began exploring photography back in high school. It’s always an honor whenever they ask me to take their photos, and I was particularly happy to find out that Wen wanted photos of her second pregnancy (congrats!). We drove to Wellesley College campus (seems to be one of my favorite places to shoot now!), the sky threatened to rain but held throughout the hour, woohoo!

Their son, little J, was a little clingy at first, so Phil took him for a ride!

I really love pregnant bellies, I think they’re one of the most beautiful things in the world

The gorgeous mom, Wen!

Haha, Phil’s expression here is funny

I love Wellesley’s greenery

Thank you Wen and Phil for sharing your time with me, and I can’t wait to see the little one!

A’s first birthday | Boston Baby Photography

April 13, 2009

Little A celebrated his first birthday about a week ago, and boy what a great party! Around 80 of his family and friends gathered around. His mom, Victoria, did a splendid job on the decor. On top of the usual food and gifts and speeches, the party even featured a very fun video that they’d filmed. The theme of the party was Rock Star, and there were lots of guitar and star balloons and decorations all over the place. So amazing! I really wish I could show you the tiered cake but A’s name is on it, and as a policy I don’t publish the full names of anyone under age 13, so unfortunately that’ll have to be left out.

Star- and guitar-shaped chocolates

A piano-shaped cake!

Little A seemed to be quite occupied with the balloons

A very fabulous entrance!

Little A at five months | Boston Baby Photography

March 31, 2009

Bilal and Lama have the cutest little five-month girl, A, and I present to you our photoshoot from Sunday afternoon. It was also too cold to go outside, so we just played with A inside their home.

She was smiling the entire time, made my job really easy =)

I love her curiosity with the Minnie Mouse doll. I also had to take this photo quickly because she isn’t too used to sitting up by herself yet!

Family portrait – I really liked the color of the bedroom wall

Cuddling on the bed

Just Mom and Dad

She makes me smile so much! Does this photo not cheer you up?!

A Family Photoshoot | Boston Family Photography

March 31, 2009

Last Saturday I got to spend some time with this precious adorable little boy, “A”, who is celebrating his first birthday very soon! We originally wanted to get lots of fun photos both outside and inside but Boston weather did not cooperate and decided to drop 20 degrees within 30 minutes. It got so cold! We were able to catch some photos in Boston Public Gardens to start…

He’s growing some teeth!

We saw some mounted policemen and they said it was totally safe to pet the horse. I think we were all a little scared but the horses were very gentle!

Portrait of the gorgeous gorgeous family. See a resemblance? The mother, Victoria, is the daughter ofStella and Leonid, who I featured last week

Part of the reason we did the photoshoot was because we needed table number cards for the birthday party. We decided to feature A in all of them, posing with numbers! He was a little fidgety and wanted to eat the cards, but we were able to shoot all 9 numbers without too much fussing

By this time we’d snuck inside the Four Seasons Hotel because it just got way too cold and there really is no other place to hide in the area other than hotels. We were able to take another half hour just doing photos on the upstairs level by the ballroom until an event kicked us out. They were very nice about it though! Look at him crawl!

I love this silly photo of Victoria and A in the mirrors of the women’s restroom

Some portraits of A with his parents near the end of the photoshoot as he got hungry. Even if the weather was bad, I loved the diffuse lighting streaming through these really large windows by this staircase

Can’t wait to photograph A’s birthday soon! You’ll be seeing him a lot of him on this blog as we’re slated for maybe 4 more photoshoots through this year. Babies grow up fast and we’re hoping to catch those changes throughout the year! See some more photos here
